Skills & Qualifications |

|
|
Extensive background in the whole spectrum of visual
fine arts through schooling, independent studies, and personal investigation. Not only
technical “how-to”, but also more importantly “why” art works - a very strong
understanding of the psychology and principles of perception. My life as an
artist in many mediums has strongly developed my personal principles of
design and effective composition. Acute understanding of editing and bringing together
all of the parts of production to make a complete movie. While this makes
me a good editor, the important result is that it makes me a better
director. Anyone who is involved
in shooting a film MUST have a very good understanding of the editing process
and how all of the parts of production come together in order to have
successful and usable results. Comprehensive film studies at the University of
Colorado in Boulder. Besides learning
the concepts, tools and methods of film, and completing several of my own
movies through all stages of production at Boulder, the Film Program has
uniquely benefited me in that much of my higher-level classes covered
subjects such as Advanced Film Theory, and discussed important artists,
films, styles, techniques, motivations, history, and genres not even
mentioned at “technical colleges;” information that is indispensable to the
filmmaker as an artist and a craftsman.
Special training in an advanced and in-depth
independent study of expert lighting techniques and principles of depth. This study has
remarkably improved my craft and has fine-tuned the way that I perceive the
world around me and other art. Competence in production: ·
Operation of both
digital (24p) and film cameras and filters. ·
Use of special camera
rigs including various stabilization systems, cranes, dollies and custom
specialty mounts. ·
Excellent use of
lighting. · Mastery over editing theory and practice, essential for any director or cinematographer to know for efficient filming. Competence in post-production: ·
Full
pipeline from editing (Final Cut Pro/Avid) to compositing (After Effects) to
2D graphics (PhotoShop) to 3D graphics (3D Studio MAX) to color-correcting to
post-sound (Pro Tools) to multi- format distribution including DVD authoring
and content creation. |

PERSONAL Quote: True Art
exists in a mysterious sub-layer of all life. The quest and magic of the Artist is to tap into that
force to let the Art transpire to his audience. |
