New Removable Large Scale Wall Decals of My Panoramic Murals

News, January 31st, 2011

I’ve signed up with a new company that creates removable wall decals up to 7 feet long.  These wall graphics are easy to hang – just peel and stick where you want it, then peel it off to remove it and use again.  The quality is very good.  It’s a quick and simple way to decorate a room without putting holes in the walls!  Prices start at $25.00.

Lakeside Merry-Go-Round, Experimenting with a New Style

News, Panoramic Artwork, January 28th, 2011

It looks like an illustration, but it’s really a photograph…

I’m trying something new this time.

I’ve always stuck to traditional photography, but I’ve been playing with an image of the merry-go-round that I took at Lakeside amusement park that wasn’t working as a straight photo for me.  I managed to create a unique “illustrated poster” look, which I think goes well with the image.

Stylized Lakeside Merry-go-round

I’m really liking this effect and will probably play with it more in my other images.  It has a playful, “cell animation” look, but backed by a realistic play of light and shadow and proportion.  I also really like how the foreground has more detail, while the background is more simplistic, a natural product of the filter process.  I’d like to se this pieces printed on canvas.  I think it is one of the only pieces I have so far that would look good on that medium.

I also made another version that has more detail (below).  I think it looks much better up close, and I intend to have it printed out very large scale.  Take a look at the detail insert to see what I mean.

Which version do you like more?  What do you think of this style?  Please give me your feedback in the comments.  Thanks!

Photos from Nov. Solo show at gallery nrc

Art Shows, January 27th, 2011

My first solo show at gallery nrc was a blast and the art never looked better.  I featured my new plaque mounted pieces, which turned out great.  Lots of people showed up for the First Friday showing and I sold a couple pieces to private collectors.  Here are some photos from the show.

Thank you to the gallery owner, Neil Corman

New Plaque Mounting Method for my Photos

News, December 27th, 2010

After trying many different ways to mount my photographs, I’ve discovered plaque mounting, a technique of permanently fixing a high quality digital print to a lacquered board with finished beveled edges.  This mounting technique is my new method of choice as it looks very clean, sharp, and professional, and the pieces are very sturdy.

The mounting technique allows for different styles, such as thin or thick thicknesses, floated plaques, and a few other options.  I’ve been using the DuraPlaq company, and I am very pleased with them.  Below is a sample of the plaques – in miniature form!  In addition to some much larger pieces, I’ve made up a number of these as smaller, cheaper versions for desktop or small wall art pieces.

My first solo show is here! Nov 5th come to nrc gallery…

Panoramic portfolio gallery all set up!

News, July 15th, 2010

After many weeks of working hard to build both the structure and content for my panoramic portfolio gallery, I finally have it complete and ready for public use.  I’ve built a lot of functionality into my portfolio to try to make the best view experience, as well as planning the visual display.  I’ve also put 11 of my panoramic photos up with multiple pictures of each image and the stories behind them.

I’m happy with how everything turned out.  I’ll continue to put more of my panoramic works up as I complete new ones and I’ll keep adding to the blog section.

I would greatly appreciate any feedback.  Also, please comment on my images, and if you’d like to stay up to date, sign up for the newsletter or subscribe to my blog.

July First Friday Artwalk at the Tennyson Art District on July 2nd in the New Gallery Space!

Art Shows, June 15th, 2010

Tennyson Street Art Walk

Every Frist Friday of the month brings The First Friday Artwalk to many art districts in Denver, including the Tennyson Art District.  My work is displayed in The Coolest Little Gallery | Mid Mod and More, which is participating in the July 2nd Artwalk from 6:30 to 10pm along with numerous other galleries up and down the street.

This is our first Artwalk at the new space (4234 Tennyson St) and my work will be featured prominently.  Since this is the 4th of July weekend, they will be barbecuing, they’ll have beer, and they are doing specialty crepes, so if you are free this Friday night, stop by, check out my work, say hello, and have some good food and drink, all for free (unless you want to buy some art or furniture!).
