Jeffery D. Schomay

Digital Design from a Fine Arts Perspective

Objective

To apply creative, artistic skills and technological knowledge, along with a growing fascination for advanced, visual display technologies, to a professional environment where I can create art designed for use, as well as learn existing and developing technologies and processes used in the actual business environment.   In addition to being allowed creative freedom and the necessary tools, I would ideally like to have the opportunity to work with technologies that I have thoroughly studied but not had a chance to use, including: lenticular graphics, stereo-optic imaging, virtual reality, holograms, Rapid Prototyping Technology (RPT), and virtual retina display (VRD).

Education

University of Colorado at Boulder

Major: Film Studies and Production

GPA: 3.59

George Washington High School

International Baccalaureate Program Diploma

GPA: 3.9

Skills & Qualifications

Extensive background in the visual fine arts through schooling, special classes, and personal investigation.

Not only technical “how-to”, but also the important “why” art works - a very strong understanding of the underlying psychology of perception.

Experience across many different mediums to convey ideas; specializing and focusing on 3D computer graphics.

Two year independent study and research on all aspects of computer graphics.  Skills have been continued both professionally and for enjoyment and in further studies.

Special training in an advanced and in-depth independent study of expert lighting techniques and principles of depth, working closely with Robert Kittilä, a top lighting/cinematography teacher and filmmaker.

This study has remarkably improved my work and has fine-tuned the way that I perceive the world around me and critique other art.  I would call it my most important influence and training.
